As a high resort in southern Switzerland (1800m base) it means you're always going to get good conditions in Saas Fee.
Not a massive resort, but plenty of variety of slopes for intermediate skiers. Red runs are well groomed and nice and wide so not over challenging if you're still finding your feet. More experienced skiers can also take advantage of the two other Saas areas (Grund/Almagell) which are all available with the same lift pass. Also excellent ski schools with plenty of British instructors & very friendly.
The village is car free, so great for wandering round, and there are plenty of good shops and restaurants.
Overall, a great choice for a family wanting a fairly good size area to ski that's not too challenging and overcrowded.
