We actually stayed slightly up the valley from La Plagne in Belle Plagne and this was a great decision as a lot of the accommodation is well located for ski in/ski out, ideal when you have children that don't want to walk far. We stayed in an apartment above the Matafan restaurant which was perfect.

The nursery slopes near the resort are perfect for beginners but also when the lifts close in the evening for the children to get the sledges out and play safely near the centre of the village whilst the adults have some peace and quiet.

There are enough shops and restaurants in Belle Plagne to serve your needs and a couple of bars that open until late. If you want a few drinks at the end of the day then it's fine but I wouldn't recommend it for young groups as it is a relatively quiet resort in general.

The other advantage that Belle Plagne has over La Plagne is that it genuinely feels like you are in an alpine village in comparison to La Plagne which is very built up with high apartment blocks.
