Cervinia has the added advantage of being linked with Zermatt over the Matterhorn so you have a massive range of skiing available. It is also obviously very high and so reliability of the snow is not a problem.
It's hard to imagine a holiday in Cervinia not being suitable for anyone. It's a relatively decent sized village with enough accommodation, shops, restaurants etc to appeal to most and with several bars it should also please all but the most rowdy of groups.
Our apartment was only a short walk from the lifts and was well priced. Staying here rather than Zermatt certainly enables you to enjoy the whole ski area at a much lower cost.
