Second time for us in this purpose built ski resort set in the forest near La Praz on the edge of the massive Les Trois Vallées. It's one of those places that is instantly familiar on your second trip. I've remembered to stop and fill up with fuel on the way up the valley to miss the queues for fuel on the way down, good call as it turns out. We stayed in a different apartment this time at the top of the resort where most of the self catering accommodation is, we weren't disappointed with the choice either. The main core of the village has not changed and the place was just lively enough (in January) to make the Après ski enjoyable for us older skiers.

The new lifts above resort have made a big difference in the access to the slopes and the local lift company have made good progress in addressing the small problems that this growing resort had. The main difference for us this year was the huge snowfall we had whilst in resort, over a metre of snow in 4 days, this made it a memorable trip.

The local eateries and bars haven't changed a bit in two years and we were pleasantly surprised at the engaging banter and general sense of camaraderie and enthusiasm for the place. My tips for you if you drive here, especially if you're lucky enough to have a big dump of snow, make sure you clear the snow off your car and fit your snow chains (if needed) the night before you leave, it will save you a boat load of time in the morning.

Because it was built as a Olympic Village it has little of the ugliness of other French resorts. You also won't be bothered by the party animals of Meribel or Courchevel. This is a positive though ,most of the accomodation is typical Alpine log style Chalets. It has the most amount of family chalets you will find anywhere in the Alps which makes for a picture perfect holiday. The small village centre has a couple of bars but that is all you need. It is basically a base though for a 3 Valleys holiday and apart from the fantastic run back into the resort you will do most of your Skiing or Boarding elsewhere. Not a resort to over look by any means. If you want to Ski but finish the day in relaxed surroundings then this is the resort for you.
