This was our second holiday in Meribel at the Chalet Hotel Alba with Esprit Ski. The hotel is in a fantastic location right opposite the famous Rond Point Bar - a must visit if you are in Meribel!! From there, there are green runs down to the main centre where all the lifts are, The Chaudanne area. There are long cruisy green runs which are wide and gentle perfect for the nervous beginner which are great for building your confidence and some more challenging reds and black for the more experienced! Both times the snow conditions were perfect with several inches of fresh powder falling several nights we were there!

There are some great mountain bars and restaurants to choose from including the newly opened Folie Douce ( my husband and I are definitely heading off there without the boys next year from Courchevel!!! Also check out this site ( for loads more on the bars, restaurants, pistes. Great website. If you take the Saulire Express Gondola from the Chaudanne area you will arrive at the summit at the most amazing bar with panoramic views over the alps. You can go up there and back down in the Gondola so the whole family can go up and you don't have to worry about traversing the red slopes on the way back down.

The Blanchot piste is the best wide green for the nervous skier. There are several variations and alternative routes to make it a bit more interesting so you don't do the same run over and over. And from the bottom of Blanchot is a lovely track through the trees to take you back to the Rond Point and if you are staying further down in the town you can catch the free bus back down to your hotel or chalet.

All in all a great family resort with lots for the whole family to enjoy. Good snow guaranteed and not too long a transfer from Chambery airport.

My first ski trip! Conditions were pretty poor due to lack of snow particularly on the lower slopes. Icy conditions weren't ideal for me as a beginner and ended up on my bum quite a lot!

Great links to other ares. I enjoyed Courchevel the most. It had the best snow and conditions and was good for me as a beginner and enabled me to tackle red runs. Beware £££ when stopping for food and drink!

Very lively bars, great après ski.

Great resort overall, easy to get around.

It's a huge area and would love to go back now I'm a more experienced skier and hopefully cover more slopes.
